Resumen:
Dark Matter (DM) calls for an explanation beyond the Standard Model (SM). A plausible solution is given by a new stable neutral particle, which is a thermal relic and has electroweak-scale mass. Similarly, if the longstanding tension between theoretical prediction and experimental determination of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (now at the level of 3.5 sigmas) were confirmed by upcoming measurements, new particles — in this case interacting with muons — would be required at the TeV scale or below. In both cases the phenomenological consequences and possible tests of the required new dynamics can be captured by simplified models that only keep the minimal set of phenomenologically relevant fields and couplings. In the attempt of finding a simplified framework for the above problems, we built and studied the minimal extensions of the SM that (i) have a stable DM candidate compatible with the observed relic density and (ii) can simultaneously explain the muon g − 2 anomaly. I will show that the interplay of DM experiments and LHC searches can already exclude the simplest solutions, and discuss the features of the models that are instead phenomenologically successful.
