Using Binary Neutron Star Mergers to Rule Out Weinberg's Anthropic Principle: Neutron stars are laboratories for novel tests of the equivalence principle as the high chemical potentials in their cores may drive a phase transition into novel states of QCD. In these exotic phases, the vacuum energy is not expected to be small and is rather of order (100 MeV)^4, giving a significant contribution to the equation of state. With future improvements in ab-initio calculations of the high density nuclear EoS, gravitational wave observatories may be able to determine if this large vacuum energy gravitates in the same manner as normal matter, making significant inroads on the question of whether nature solves the cosmological constant problem, or merely provides an enormous number of vacua from which our universe with tiny Lambda is selected.
