We introduce a QCD-like dark sector confining around the GeV scale. Due to dark quark SM quark couplings via a heavy mediator the dark sector inherits a flavor structure. While stable baryonic bound states are the dark matter candidates of the model, the phenomenology is dominated by the lightest composite mesons, the dark pions, which can have decay length in the millimeter to meter range. While in the past the focus was on coupling the dark sector to the down-type quarks, we now study the phenomenology of a dark sector coupling to the up-type quarks, considering flavor phenomenology like neutral meson mixing and rare meson decays, fixed target experiments as well as collider experiments and cosmological constraints. The phenomenology of the dark pions is compared to those of axion-like particles, which also only couple to right-handed up-type quarks.
